Tip of the Day: Additional stops on continental web reins

IMG_6252

In my eternal quest to improve my riding, I came up this little trick. I found that I often have one rein very slightly shorter than the other, which is a bad habit, so I had my saddler add additional leather ‘stops’ between the existing stops on continental web reins, so that wherever my hands are, I can feel at least 1 of the stops, so it is instantly obvious in the feel if one rein is a slightly different length to the other. The gaps between the stops are now less than 3″ (whereas regular continental web reins have a large enough gap between the stops for my hand to fit easily between them, touching no stop, giving less feedback as to exactly how long the rein is!)
