Tip of the Day: No gloves for jumping?

Screen shot 2013-09-02 at 12.55.50I hardly ever wear gloves at home for riding in summer, as for some reason even the thinnest ones make me really overheat, and I don’t ever get blisters anyway so can’t see the point. However, I did always put them on for the SJ and XC phases at events because it was ‘the done thing’.

However, having noticed recently that Andrew Nicholson (“we are not worthy, etc etc”) rides XC without gloves, I thought I’d give it a go, as if it’s good enough for him, etc etc.

I have now done a couple of events’ jumping phases gloveless and can report that it definitely helps me to keep my cool, and that the odd time I drop a rein after a particularly exuberant jump from Daisy I can get it back much more quickly!
