Everything Else

BETA: Blingtastic.

There’s no getting around it, bling is here to stay, and is starting to encroach into eventing, one of the last bastions of conservatism. I resisted for a while, but eventually it starts to become appealing, even to a die-hard non-attention-seeker like me. I haven’t quite succumbed yet, but Something Blingy is edging its way up the shopping list. These are the blingtastic things that caught my eye at BETA:

I have a few plain black pairs of these which are probably about 20 years old, and still in good enough condition to use at competitions. They really are tough! I am quite tempted by these as ‘keep shoes on in the field’ boots, as I’d be able to see it a mile off if one got lost! They really are very spangly, so I’m not quite sure I could cope with them for XC.

This Gloockler pair are, amazingly, even blingier. Strictly for dressage divas, I suspect?

Next to catch my eye were these blingtastic plait covers, rather covetable actually. I suspect they could make even the most football-like plaits look good. Their diameter means they’re too big for skinny delicate plaits. >>>>

The fabrics are of a lovely quality and the whole look is very opulent, using brocade, embroidery, velvets and quality fleece.

It has a removable, washable lining, and a dial adjustment at the back for exact fitting.

The photo doesn’t really do them justice, but these beautiful de Niro boots (left pic) have a stunningly spangly top part, with patent strip and diamantes. Or, there’s the style below with diamante patterns. Very fancy, but maybe a bit too much for eventers?

For the more attention-shy amongst us, these brown de Niros might be just the ticket. At first they look quite plain, apart from the trademark beautiful shape, but they have a thin brown patent leather strip around the top suede panel, and the patent catches the light (just visible in the photo). I’m sure these are also available in black. These were seriously covetable, just beautiful in every way!
