Our event groom Immy who works for Olympic eventer Marcelo Tosi updates us on the beginning of the season for the team.
Marcelo competing at Larkhill
The first competitions of the season have gone really well. Horses have been excited to be out but still went in to the arenas and performed well. Now they have had a few runs under their belts they are becoming better with every run.
The last few competitions we’ve had very early starts (2/3/4am), which is a big part of being an event groom – being able to work long days, starting very early and finishing very late.
In the last month the horses have started galloping harder, normally once or twice a week on the gallops as we are starting to work towards full 3 day fitness for the CCI 2*/3* events that are coming up over the coming months. Eleda All Black will be aimed for Bramham CCI 3* at the beginning of June.
We’ve also been hard at work going to dressage and showjump training sessions. All the horses have been looking great in these sessions which makes the up and coming competitions really exciting. In the next couple of weeks 1 of the horses will doing his first 3*, and one of the others will be doing his first 2*.
Next month is very exciting and busy especially with Bramham.
