The Westcountry Equine Fair 2015

E-venting 200px x 200px WEB-01-01Over the past 18 years, the Westcountry Equine Fair at the Westpoint Arena in Exeter has been quietly growing into an unmissable event on the equine calendar.

With an array of excellent demos, a superb shopping village and showing and showjumping competitions, it really does offer something for everyone.

Last year eventers had the pleasure of seeing demos from Badminton winner Sam Griffiths, and we wondered how they planned to top that in 2015.

The answer is with another legend of antipodean eventing, Sir Mark Todd. His triumphs have been rewarded with a Knighthood in 2013, the MBE (1984), the CBE (1995) and in 2000 he was voted the ‘Event Rider of the 20th Century’ by the FEI.

Sir Mark Todd and Leonidas II at the World Equestrian Games 2014 - CopySir Mark Todd (sponsored by Keyflow and Patch & Acre) will be providing Master Classes at this years’ Westcountry Equine Fair at Westpoint in Exeter on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th December. If the demos by Sam Griffiths are anything to go by, then it will be an unmissable weekend!

Other demonstrations taking place over the two days include: Long Reining; The South West Parelli Team; SW Endurance; Dog Training; Top Westcountry Stallions; Junior Show Jumping; Show prep and many more. There will also be the BETA sponsored Equestrian Knowledge Zone. You can ask advice from a selection of experts including: equine vet; equine dentist; Lorinery; referral farrier; equine nutritionist and free hat and body protector checks and worming.

The shopping village is the perfect way to kick off your Christmas shopping, with over 200 companies attending. Don’t forget you don’t need to carry those heavy shopping bags around with the shop and drop facility in the foyer – all donations to Breast Cancer Care.

The brilliance of the Westcountry Equine Event is that everything is on hardstanding and under cover. Forget traipsing through the mud at Badminton and Burghley – this is a chance to see the stars and do some shopping in the warm and dry.

Tickets are on sale with a discounted rate to those booking in advance. Details are available by visiting the website www.westcountryequinefair.co.uk or calling 01392 421500 (office hours – Monday to Friday, 9.00am until 5.00pm)).
