Equipment Tip of the day

Tip of the Day: Wall timer for yard kettle in the mornings.

When the weather’s cold I always add hot water to my horses’ feeds, a habit I learnt from probably the best true ‘nagsman’ I’ve ever known. It makes the feeds smell delicious and I like to think it might help avoid the shock of a very cold feed hitting the stomach (since I always prepare my feeds fairly wet, to avoid choke.) Icy feeds are a definite no-no on my yard! Anything to hopefully avoid the danger of colic.
I have a wall timer which is set to about 5 minutes before the horses’ breakfast time, so that when I go out on the yard the kettle is boiled ready, saving a few minutes when the horses are eager for their feeds!
It’s just a little thing but makes a big difference every morning.
