Everything Else

Awesome old-time video – grab a coffee, it’s worth it!

This is the video from the 4* long format WEGs when they were held in Gawler, Australia in 1986:  Link to video

The notorious ‘Dead Man’s Pass’ water claims another scalp.

It’s fascinating to see the differences in the sport: the dressage was far less complicated, the cross-country far more daunting – huge fences, very difficult direct routes which few attempted, and riders having horrible falls and carrying on. There are lots of very well-known names in action, at least 2 of whom are still eventing at the highest level today. Others are now officials or course-builders at the highest levels or parents of other top riders. It’s a fascinating look at the sport.

Part 2: (ignore the numbering on the vids, it seems to be incorrect!) is HERE.

I promise, parts of it are jaw-dropping, some of those fences are absolutely ginormous, and not a skinny in sight!
