A pot magnet. Just string baler twine through the hole in the middle to make a very strong magnet to pick up all sharp nail ends.
One thing I am fanatical about is collecting up the nail heads when a farrier is finishing off the shoes.
Someone recommended a ‘pot magnet’ for the job, and it’s perfect: a very strong magnet, which grabs and securely holds on to all the sharp little nail ends, so I don’t have to worry about them laming one of my horses or my dogs!
The only thing is, if you get one, make sure to keep it well away from mobile phones, for obvious reasons… I’ve been told it would totally wipe the memory, and don’t want to risk finding out!
I have my farrier trained to pick these up and put them away and I have a magnet, on the fridge in the tackroom for any escapees. So far he hasn’t lost any 😉

Brilliant as you sweep bottom over ground to pick up nails and then pop them into the ‘dish’ part to keep them safe.
