The Pony Eventer

This is a pretty new thing for me, but I love reading E-Venting and couldn’t really resist the urge to get involved myself and write!

I am the baby among the contributors. I’m 15, at school doing my GCSE’s ,and eventing at the grassroots levels on the trusty 14.2hh steed Theo. With the winter showing its ugly face and the light hours ever disappearing ,school makes riding and doing the horses more of a challenge, however with my brilliant mum on hand Theo still gets everything he needs and we make the most of the weekends and holidays for our vital eventing season prep!

I have been eventing at 90 Level for a season and a half, both at unaffiliated and British Eventing. Currently I’m enjoying quite a humble experience and enjoyment of the sport but always trying to strive to be as best as I can! I, like many others, aim one day to compete at Badminton and Burghley and be amongst the best; however for now I’m focussing on having a good season at BE100 in 2014 and with some luck qualifying for the Trizone BE100 eventer challenge. Badminton Grassroots would be an option if Theo wasn’t over-qualified!

Having had an excellent season in 2013 I’m now using the winter season like many others, doing Arena Eventing, JAS, Jump Training and Dressage as training to make my 2014 season even better. I’m missing cross country and so is Theo, but although our dressage is okay, we need some improvement to get up into the 20’s in 2014, and in the show jumping it’s usually me that makes little errors causing the careful Theo to drop a pole. So hopefully we can use the winter as a springboard for success in 2014!

Other than eventing, I enjoy English, which is, I suppose, the reason that I’m getting into writing! What I’m going to bring to e-Venting is a young point of view as I know many readers are of a similar age to me, with posts that share my experiences, humour and passion for both eventing and English. I can’t wait to get started and get writing.
