Tip of the day

Tip Of The Day: Ask positive questions of yourself.

Instead of telling yourself you will fail instead ask yourself how you are going to ensure you will succeed.

Instead of telling yourself you will fail ask yourself how you are going to ensure you will succeed.

If you are someone that finds their brain regularly filled with negative thoughts such as ‘everyone is watching me’, ‘I’m going to fail’, ‘why am I here?’ and ‘I’m not good enough’ when riding then try filling it with positives and questions.

Leave the negative ‘why’ questions at the mounting block and instead replace them with ‘Hows’ and ‘Whats’ such as ‘What can I do to improve this trot?’ and ‘How can I do this?’ and then make sure you answer yourself positively with replies such as ‘sit up’, ‘one phase at a time’, ‘give my hands’ etc and then act out the response! By asking leading questions and answering yourself positively you will put yourself in a more positive frame of mind assuring yourself you are capable and therefore make yourself more relaxed and therefore more likely to succeed.
