Tip Of The Day; Two bits, two set of reins

If you use two different bits on the same bridle for the different phases eventing I would suggest having two sets of reins especially if you are at the event alone or have short gaps between phases as it can save you those important few seconds to prevent you rushing by having reins pre-attached to the second bit.

Also if you use a martingale for jumping and are nit picky about turnout you don’t need to worry about having rein stoppers on your reins for dressage.

Some people like clip reins (and cheekpieces) which are obviously very quick but personally I would never go cross country with any such clips as I wouldn’t be satisfied they wouldn’t break or come undone.
