I am absolutely paranoid about symmetry, and frequently check to make sure I’m exactly in the middle of the saddle.
Fortunately some saddles make it very easy for me to check how I have been sitting. This is my lovely Butet after a recent schooling and jumping session.
You can clearly see the line of my breeches, smack bang in the middle. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Unfortunately for Daisy, I was so pleased with this that I didn’t check myself so much during my next training, and discovered afterwards that I’d been sitting slightly to the left… NOT good. Got to keep on top of it!
Here’s a photo of VERY uneven wear of a rider’s breeches. You can see totally clearly how he is skewing to one side, with a lot more weight on his left seat bone, and more grip on the inside with his right leg. No way you can expect the poor horse to be straight if the rider is as crooked as this!
