I am always surprised by people who have bridles which are kept for best and so are worn at events only. You wouldn’t practice for any other sport with different kit swapping only to your best for the event so why expect your horse to go at its best wearing a strange bridle that may well have different pressure points to the one it wears on a daily basis. The only instance I would have two bridles one for home and one for best is if they are both exactly the same brand and model and the show one had been ‘broken in’ at home first

Absolutely! And if tack is kept clean & supple with a quick clean after every use then ‘everyday’ tack can be kept looking amazing!
In a similar vein… you’d think people would have the sense not to change to a new bit the day before an event, wouldn’t you??
