Tried and tested – JoJo Sox

I received my trial pair of Jojo Sox Bambootz socks back in the spring but I have held off on my review as sturdiness is a prime consideration in my sock purchases so I wanted to give them a fair test.

My first disclaimer is that I am incredibly picky about socks. My second is that I am incredibly hard on them. I wear the same pair of boots, and therefore socks, to ride (meaning they have to be snug and stay up), walk dogs (meaning they have to be comfortable) and do chores (meaning they have to be tough), often getting wet, dirty and walking miles in the process. For socks, a month with me is probably equal to years with a normal sock user!

Out of the box, the socks are lovely – silky soft and attractively patterned. I felt they were slightly thinner than I like in a working sock but would be a perfect weight under boots or gaiters. To wear, they are comfortable and cool, even when it’s very warm, making them a great summer sock or under sock in winter. I have particularly scrawny calves but the fit is snug without being restrictive, with a heavier elastic cuff under the knee. As a key point for me, they are tall enough, which is not always the case, even with riding socks.

The JoJo Sox have washed well. The colours have stayed true and the elastic has remained functional -they still stay up for riding and walking, although they do slip a bit – as do most socks – in wellies.  Silk feel socks are particularly bad for this so I would say these are better than average for their type. I have just gone through the toes slightly now but do feel this is about average for a quality light weight sock. Friends with more normal sock conditions report that their’s are lasting very well.

Over all, I am pleased with the Jojo Sox! They would make an ideal competition sock, thin enough to wear under tall boots, and they definitely keep your feet cooler and drier than many similar fashion boot socks, at a good price point.

An excellent stocking stuffer for the equestrian in your life. He/she may not be as picky as I am but I guarantee horse people always need socks and they will be very happy with Jojo Sox.

I won a pair in the e-Venting competition (thanks) and I think they are fab! They wash brilliantly, just pointing all people to what I want for Christmas now!
