I use Aqueous cream as recommended by my farrier when its dry to moisturise hooves and help prevent splits snd cracks. He warned against anything oil based in dry weather as it acts as a barrier and prevents absorbtion of moisture. Big bonus point its mega cheap too, I got a massive tub from the pharmacy for £3.22 and my last tub lasted well over 3 months! The difference has been amazing – I use it once in the morning- leaving it 5 mins to soak in before putting him out and then again when he comes in before riding.
You can get Aqueous cream from all the main pharmacy chains and even in supermarkets with instore pharmacies. At Superdrug for example a big pot costs only £2.99.

I remembered a thread about this on H&H sometime ago… Got me thinking because a friend who used this religiously had a horse suffer quite badly from seedy toe. Probably totally unrelated, but if it does damage the hoof it could well encourage bacteria to enter the white line I guess.

I use sudocream on Everything! Any aqueous cream like this is fab, especially for mud fever I find in the winter and horrible dry scabs and fly bites in the summer x also fab for ponys like mine who get horrible sunburn even with factor 50 and a uv mask, great for after care and stops flys too apparently! Xx
